Counselor - Ms. Vanessa Martinez
My name is Vanessa Martinez, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a Certified School Counselor. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. I started my teaching career in 2013 as a dance teacher at Ross Sterling High School and moved to Aldine 9th Grade Campus, where I taught incoming 9th graders Dance. I went on to earn two master’s degrees in Counselor Education and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. In 2019, I became a guidance counselor at Furr High School, where I was the Gifted & Talented coordinator and ESL counselor.
My ultimate purpose as a school counselor is to enhance the learning process and promote an academic, career, and social/emotional development. As your school counselor, I view my role as essential for students to achieve optimal personal growth and acquire positive social skills and values. At the same time, I am aiding students in setting informed career goals and realizing their full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of the world community.
I look forward to an exciting and fun filled school year with my amazing 9th grade dream team.
